MOP-Industry enables networking, exchange and encouragement during the festival week

The industry programme supports up-and-coming filmmakers from German-speaking countries on their way into the industry and strengthens the exchange between new voices and established experts. To this end, the Max Ophüls Preis film festival offers its industry guests many opportunities to network, exchange ideas and receive valuable input. In workshops, panels and case studies, the most important topics are discussed, and current projects are presented in pitches and matchmakings. The focus of MOP-Industry is on the opportunity to learn from each other and make new contacts in an inspiring atmosphere.

Pitches & Matchmaking

The Max Ophüls Preis film festival offers various events to bring young filmmakers together with each other and with industry experts. Screenwriters present their scripts, publishers and literary agencies meet with producers and at the showcase „Talent in Progress“ young directors, cinematographers, editors and producers can present themselves and their work, even without a concrete project. The beloved „Speed Dating“ of the festival was created more than 14 years ago to promote contacts between accredited filmmakers and the slots are still highly requested every year.

MOP-Meetings

To encourage European cooperation between young production companies from German-speaking countries and their neighbours, the Max Ophüls Preis film festival and the German Federal Film Board (FFA) initiated the co-production workshop MOP-Meetings. The seventh edition recently brought together producers from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, France and Italy. During the three-day workshop, the participants deal intensively with the opportunities and challenges of international co-productions.
